Dutch John and Grassy Mountains (East-Central NV)

Oct 11-12, 2014

Grassy Mountain (also known as grassy knoll, scene of the second gunman) was a pleasant afternoon trip. We met Dennis P on top, an amazing coincidence; I also got to talk to Dean M, with whom I had corresponded for 10 years, but never formally met.

I had seen Dutch John in trips to Great Basin in 1999, 2005, 2007, 2008... but never got to climb it.  I always thought Id just stop on the side of route 93.

These two gentle summits were what the doctor ordered. I had a chance to ride up in a nice bucket seat, and my back pain disaappeared by the second trip. Thank you Anji!

lower and walk the last bit.

We had a short walk through
juniper-pinyon, then a pleasant
(though somewhat loose) stroll to
the E through 2 cliff bands.
