It was a cold day; 26F on top of Kessler. On the way up, rime kept freezing on my beard.

The ramp up Kessler is arguably class 1;

I had my hands in my pockets all the way up and down, except when I took pictures.

I-15 makes for a very fast drive from Vegas.

1:250k map. Take the Cima Road 12 miles S from 1-15, to the parking site for “desert forest” Trailhead.	1:24k map with GPS traces.	Starting E toward Kessler. The ramp in the center of the photo is class 1-easy class 2.

The ramp has a pretty mixture of granite spires, Joshua trees and cacti. View NW.		View N to Clark Mt. in back, Mescal Range in front of Clark.

	The New York Mountains to SE.	Very windy.

View W to Teutonia, a pimple on the Cheek of Cima Dome. Cave Mountain is in the distance at R, Kelso is at L.	View SW as we head down.	Providence Mts. are in the far background.

	Next, Christine chooses to snooze in the car as I head up Teutonia. Note the arch on top	The quick way up. Head S along base, then cut WSW up slope, aiming for valley to right of the minor peaklet.

As you travel up the valley, look for this notch near the S (L) side. See waypoint Notch-lo at page bottom.	View back NE through notch.	This is the class 4 ramp mentioned in CP’s summitpost article. The iffy part is very short, perhaps 10’. See waypoint class4th at bottom of page.

To the R (E) is this class 4 chimney described in Chris Libby’s DPS note. The top of the chimney is the “step-across” Mentioned by CP.	Register placed by familiar cast.	View N: M=Mescal, C=Clark, K=Kingston.
