The track for "hike." |
I actually parked farther up The spire is actually a fin seen end-on. |
Territory is rough; I wore approach shoes, which felt like bedroom slippers. I recommend hiking boots with better support. |
I mistakenly went up to the gap at L; you want to go around cliff at R, to the NEXT embayment |
DON'T go here |
Above the correct cliff band, looking to the big break in cliffs. You will go L around the S side of the valley, above minor cliffs, to avoid the brush in the valley. |
One way out of the valley involves dropping into a pour-off. |
At the top of the valley, view back E. I came up the S side to avoid brush. Later I will go down the N side for comparison; it was looser. |
After much ridge-walking, this seems to be the summit to NW. Actually, there is one more gap. |
|
View SE to Nutt Temple. |
View SW to Boundary Cone, where I was 10 days earlier. |
View N from Summit |
Nutt Temple to SE. |
I remember that El Nino; 2015-16 is a bust by comparison. |
Last entry., 3.5 months before |
|
Another view of Boundary Cone |
Descending now, must get to R side of the spire just L of center. |
All roads lead to Hualapai Mts |

April Fools! There was a traffic jam on 93/95 heading NW from Boulder City; took an extra hour. A guy trying to merge (who had the right-of-way) had been driven off the road and had plunged over 10'. |
