Wilson & the Great Cellphone COVID Caper

Pics by Harlan W S & Karla K
March 24, 2021

Back story: 6 weeks before, Karla climbed Wilson for her 1st time, starting at noon. She came down in darkness and lost her cell phone. I was still weak from a severe case of COVID-19, and wouldn't be ready to help for a bit.

So this was the day. This time we had an alpine start (10AM). We made the top in 3h 43m by the Red Gully/Hidden Bowl route, and came back along First Creek to look for the phone. And Karla found her phone is a hidden brushy area!

COVID still nags at me. I lost my voice late in the day, had brain fog (nearly leading to some very bad decisions), and was strangely tired the next day.

I've been up Wilson
by many routes. 1st
Cr, certainly not the
hardest, is perhaps
the most obnoxious
with mondo boulder-
hopping and brush.
