Baby McFarland & Divide

H.W.Stockman
Set. 8, 2025

This tiny peak (Baby M) was "new to me," though I've been eyeing it for 23 years. It looks daunting, but is just class 2 with an annoying sidehill on talus for 1/4 mile.
This has been a Hellish year, with 5 broken ribs and a bad concussion, and serratus anterior myofascial pain that wakes me at 2AM. So I take little victories. The 1st time I went up Divide Peak, there was a Lilley-McLeod register, long since gone.

The hike, a bit less
than 9 miles and ~3200'
accumulated gain. I
started at Lower
Bristlecone parking,
and somewhat followed
a track by Kelley A.

Zoom view of
the route. You may
find a faint use path
once you leave the
Bonanza trail -- it will
help manage the worst
talus crossings.
