MJ Peak via Mummy South Ridge (Nevada near Vegas)

MJ Peak is named after Maxie Jayme (all-around good person).  It got that name via confused reading of registers, but the name stuck. Though it has just 115' of prominence (relative to a very narrow saddle), it is as hard to reach as any peak in the Mummy chain.  The three times I've climbed it, I've descended a cliff, twice unroped.  This time we wanted to see what a rappel would be like over that same cliff.  We also wanted to introduce Maxie to "her" peak.

I first reached this peak with Barb S and Mike B in 2014, no register on top then.

Here's the route.  You
could just take the scree
slope up Mummy, or
slog up the awful talus
 descent route (the latter
avoids nasty downclimb).
