Overview map of the hike |
Out of the initial washes,
view across gradual
upslope. We cut right
gradually to drop into
Lovell Wash; these peaks
are all on W side of
wash |
View back over terrain

View UP can as we enter
the cliffier section of
Lovell Wash. We just
dropped into the wash from
the left a short time back. |
Crystal starts up the
smaller wash
to ridge |
View back down the
bouldery side wash |
This is the dryfall. One can
work around it by going
climber's left. |
View up to ridgeline |
Crystal works around
some minor dryfalls. |
View back SW, to
mountains on the other
side of Lovell Canyon.
We are nearly at ridgeline. |
Now we're on the ridge,
and I'm looking SSE. |

Back in Lovell Wash,
heading SE. Note Crystal
in front of huge boulder. |
From the intersection of
Lake Mead BLVD
(there is another Lake Mead
DRIVE on south side of city!)
and Northshore Rd, head
left (N) and go 10 miles
along Northshore Rd. Then
turn left (a tight windy gravel
road descends to the wash.) |
A) After leaving pavement,
set odometer to 0.
B) At 0.8 miles, bear
gradually right.
C) At 1.2 miles, keep left --
do not take the roads that
head east-ish (eventually)
D) At 2.8 mile, stay right,
head NW
E) At 4.3 miles park at
wilderness boundary.
|
This is the first part of
the hike, to where
it actually drops into
and starts up
Lovell Wash. The
next map is not
continuous with this
one, leaving out some
travel up the wash. |
After walking up the main
channel. make this
critical turn up a rocky
side wash. NOTE scale
change. |
