My odd route at start was due to the sun shining directly in my eyes, with me seeking to get in shade. My day was dictated by the desire to drive home without sun in my eyes and without rush hour traffic.

The ridge route between Pinto West and 2867 is very rough; it doesn't need to be harder than class 2+. But invariably you will come to the unexpected cliff. Usually I could find something easier by backtracking less than 50'.

If you just want to bag 2867, this is not the easiest way; the ridge from Pinto West is rough and crumbly. One can reach 2867 by going south in Calville Wash, then cutting over to the wash west of the peak; or even by starting from the Calville Bay paved road.

Context. In a longer day, one could do the Hamblins.	Most of the hike, and key for the photos, with photo locations and directions.	I didn't load a gps track before this trip, but after the fact I looked at the track from Paula R (PR22), which is essentially the track from Adam W. Mine (HWS23) is sometimes more direct, where I went down ledges to avoid talus.
