Nov 22, 2018.
The start is similar
to the "double slot"
route.
|
We'll wrap
around R side,
near the transition
to white sandstone.
|
|
|
View E from
top of first slot
|
These next two
images will be
familiar to many
in the 52-peak
club. I've used this
route since 2004.
|
|
Here's where
it gets interesting.
Crux0 is an 8' "crack"
(really a line of potholes)
that starts at ~80 degrees,
and mellows out to
horizontal; crux1 is an
overhanging lip; purchase
on left hanging wall,
and stretch right foot way
up to a small foothold,
then delicately pull up
on minute finger ledges
(horizontal unfortunately).
Crux2 is a 75 degree
wall with tiny ledges.
|
as viewed in
aerial photo
|
|
Climb the L wall
via crux0, drop
to crux1
|
crux1 is
hidden behind
rock at R

|
|
|
Now to go
home via
N white gully
|
|
They look so calm!

Nov 05, 2024.
Jess and I took
a variation of
"Red White" route,
with a class 4
shortcut
|
now up to normal
Red-White
|
More of last
Red/White slot
|
I forgot to take
a picture on
Calico Tanks
Peak! here we
are already going
to Red Cap via the
"scary step" (not
scary to Jess)
|
|
|
We took the
2nd slot of
"Double slot"
|
Up the last
crack to
summit block.

Oct 31, 2024.
Walt and Kelly
were in town
for Halloween.
|
Oops, unneccesary
traverse!

Our next goal:
we'll take the
steep gully at L
side L peak.
|
Up the gully

|
|
Near top
S Calico Peak.
Once again I
forgot to take
pic on Peak!
|
Down the very
tight slot. Through
2016 there were
no cairns here;
now a few have
appeared.
|
|
Now we head
to the W side
of RedCap.
