Where is real Teutonia Peak (CA, NE Mojave)?

H.W. Stockman, Mar 07, 2025

It's at 35.30004, -115.56385 WGS84!
First look at this previous report from 2007.
A gpx file, TO USE AT YOUR OWN RISK is here.

The SE peak is the true summit. There is a very nice trail that ends below the somewhat scary NW summit. I would like to discourage climbing that NW peak, as it is 9' lower than the SE peak, and there is no easy way to get from the NW to SE peak. View the gpx file for a class 3 or 4 way to get to the true highpoint directly (most of the route has no trail).

This is the skyline of Teutonia,
view NW, as one is about
to cut L (SW) for true summit.
I'm trying to convince
you that you SHOULD
NOT traverse this ridge.
Teut_ridge2NW
This view is from
the real summit,
looking NW.
The ridge between
is very rough, with
multiple sheer 20-40'
cliffs.

This 2D LIDAR

view of the very
rough ridge between
the 2 summits. The
2 summits are
separated by ~700'.
