Windy Peak LVMC Trip (In Red Rock, West of Las Vegas)H.W. Stockman |
What is the elevation of Windy Peak? The last closed contour in the USGS topo is 6240', with a 40' interval. The closed contour loops are 20-30 feet wide. This width is sufficient to enclose the boulders on top of the peak, which are 5' to 10' above the tabletop of the mountain, so I would estimate 6248' +/- 20'. (the standard error for photogrammetry is half the width of a contour).
