For years, I saw this peak to the south of camp, when the Las Vegas Mountaineers did their annual Easter trip to Zion. We almost got there in 2007, but ran out of daylight; a good thing perhaps, as one of my partners dislocated his shoulder and ended up in great pain.

Finally I made it up Watchman in 2013, thanks to a great partner (Double A) and good beta from Sarah M. It was actually easier the 2nd time, as there was a handline running down the class 4 section. Most of the route is class 3, on very fragile rock; Andy and I made it up in less than 3 hours, but it would be wise to give yourself a lot of time, because it is VERY easy to lose the route. It is very easy to take a wrong turn and class 3 becomes class 5. Link to trip report for the Watchman in Zion National Park
