This is another neat Death Valley peak, which apparently was so nice, it couldn't be included in the DPS list. A modest-clearance vehicle -- with two spares and slow driving! -- can make it to the trailhead just west of the famous Racetrack. (Call ahead to the DV NPS to determine the condition of the road -- it varies hugely.) A fairly obvious trail cuts to the north of the peak, then winds south on the west side... then the fun begins, as the trail becomes faint and the terrain requires careful attention to find the cairns, as it descends over some stretches with poor runout. The view below is west across the Racetrack Playa... but the mountain is really a very sharp ridge, best seen on the climb itself. Link to Ubehebe Peak trip report
