This my favorite Death Valley peak; yet it isn't on the DPS list (which does include a lot of boring brown lumps). From Red Pass on Titus Canyon Road, the peak looks formidable, and some guides suggest a circuitous class 3 way on the north side. But if one just follows the ridge, there is a use trail and the terrain is never worse than hard class 2 (I actually put my hands down to touch rock just twice on the ascent). You will have to go west through Titus Canyon after you finish the peak-- but that is hardly a punishment! Call the DV NPS beforehand to make sure Titus Canyon is open -- it often closes after floods or snow. Link to trip report for Thimble
