View NW from campsite Friday morn. |

We start up the Wildcat Trail; there was substantial snow and mud. |
We climbed East Northgate, and got this good view of NGA. SGA is visible just L of NGA, and West Temple is in the distance, farther L. Even though the crux section was snow-free, I decided the muddy trip in was prohibitive. |
View of Pine Valley Peak in back. |
On Saturday, the 7 of us took the bus to Zion Lodge, and went up Lady Mt. |
There are several exposed class 3 sections before the first crux. |
This section has a long step (out of view) to get on the class 3 ramp. |
Now I've climbed up the class 4 1st crux, and drop a handline. Some call this class 5.3, but if you reach over the chockstone you will find some good holds. |
Same crux. |
Now we're at the 2nd crux, an awkward 12' corner. This has been rated 5.6 to 5.7, but if you can jam your hands and toes in the crack, it's fairly easy. I dropped a handline but Chris and Matt climbed free. |
Now for the endless staircase of class 3 ramps, made tricky by a thick coat of sand. |
There were some exposed traverses. |
View of steps carved out of sandstone. |
As in my previous trip, we hit some snow. |
Zion Canyon below. |
|
The Spearhead, with Angel's Landing to R. |
||
Descent over a rough steep area; the trail has washed out here. Note the people. |
||
Another exposed traverse. |
And another. |
|
Jen comes down the 1st crux. |
Matt comes down. |
|
Relaxing that eve. |
Next day we went up Gifford wash to Hepworth Peak. |
|
We climb out of Gifford Wash to a hanging valley. |
||
Pano ~W from Hepworth Peak; fromed by West Temple on L, and East Temple to R. |

View S to Roof Peak. |
